World of Warcaft, the game that will perhaps never die. We all spent countless hours on this game grinding mounts, gold, gear or other pixel stuff.
I would like to tell you guys my story of WoW. My WoW adventure started around 9 years ago in Classic on the magical realm of Eonar. I saw my dad play on his rogue at those mines south of Goldshire. I can really clearly see that image in my mind. I don’t know how but I managed to enjoy the game very much, even though I had not had 1 word of English in school an rarely got any character above level 20. Also 1 gold was a fortune to me back in those days. One day I started a Human warrior (I was about to name him Emmer, which is Dutch for Bucket, but since I was around 8 by that time I wrote Emer). Emer was the first character I can really remember as an achievement. I got up to something around level 37, and just completed the Whirlwind Axe / Berserker Stance questline. For some reason I decided I did not like Emer’s appearance at all (His hair was truely horrible and barber shops weren’t around in classic) so I decided to delete him. A decision I still regret until this day.
Some time later I made a (male) night elf warrior as tribute to my first serious character and named him (surprise surprise) Emer. I decided he would be my first max level character and my main character. And he did. Oh the joy when I finally hit the max level cap of 90! My current gear is kinda bad, but the game is still fun.And then 6.0.2 came along. What have they done to you Emer?! Why have they made you skip along like there are no worries in the world?! After I’d calmed a bit of the skipping I decided to google the name Emer and it turned out to be an Irish female name (They won’t leave you at peace, will they Emer?).
Though Eonar has drained empty I’ve always stayed on the realm, because of the good memories I had and the wonderful people I met there. I also joined a good guild quite recently with so many nice people. I even managed to drag some friends into playing WoW, which just enhanced the experience so much.
I guess the moral of the story is: WoW is not about having the best gear or the most gold, but the grind/farm/dungeon runs with friends working towards this epic mount or this cool gear piece. After all the community is what keeps WoW alive and fun to play.
I hope my story is readable, and maybe some people can even relate.
