Hey, gamers! Welcome back to the GameSkinny Writer’s Workshop.

Recommended Videos

The challenge article is going to look a little bit different this week, but the workflow is still the same: read your prompt, write your article, tag it with this week’s tag, and tune in to the GSWW Twitch stream to participate in workshop.

This challenge is open from Thursday, May 7th until Saturday, May 16th.

You probably already know that Mother’s Day is coming up. (If you didn’t, you’re welcome for the reminder.) Your challenge this week is to answer this question:

If your mom wanted to play a video game, what game would you recommend to her and why?

Now imagine this: your mother is curious about video games. She wants to give them a shot and see what you’ve been spending your time on all these years. She asks you to give her some recommendations to get her started.

There are a lot of things to consider. What kind of player do you think your mother would be? Would she need something easy, or is she able to pick up new skills quickly? Would she like am arcade platformer or something more narrative-driven? What games would make her love gaming?

Think on these things for a little while, then whip up an article on GameSkinny telling us your answer. Here are the requirements:

  • Articles must be at least 150 words.
  • Fill out all parts of your SEO tab.
  • TAG YOUR POST WITH THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE TAG: “GSWW 1.8”
    • (We can’t keep track of your piece if your tag isn’t there!)

The winner of this challenge will be announced during our live Twitch.TV GSWW stream. During these streams, I (your loyal weekend editor) will sit down with you all to workshop, promote, and feature some of your articles.

This week’s stream will go live Tuesday, May 19th at 3:00 pm EST. To watch, click here.
