World of Warcraft saved my life… twice

As the title says WoW was the catalyst that saved my life. But let me go back a bit so you understand the story… I was never a popular kid in school, I was the one who got tortured by all the other kids. I even moved schools a few times to get away from the bullying but it always was wherever I went. I moved to a school my juinor year in high school and it was the same. I was labeled instantly and was made fun of and ridiculed by the mean kids. One day I was in the snack line and I heard a few kids talking about an online game. I will admit I did eavesdrop but their conversation was about games. They were talking about a MMO called Runescape and I played that. I butted my way into the conversation and they started telling me how World of Warcraft was so much better. We talked while in the snack line and they convinced me to get the game and play it with them. This first run in with World of Warcraft is what first saved my life. At that time I planned on committing suicide. I was sick of being bullied and feeling alone and I wanted it all to stop. But when these two guys let me join in on their conversation and included me on something even if its just a game, made me feel like there was hope at this new school afterall. So I held off on the plans to kill myself and decided to give it a shot. Long story short one of the guys became my best friend, and his friends became mine, finally I felt like I belonged and I was happy.

PART TWO.

Time went on, we graduated and things were great until one day my best friend dropped me like a ton of bricks. It was revealed that I was just being used for my money and the ability to buy alcohol ( I was a year older than them since I failed a grade in school from absences). This absolutely devistated me, everything I thought I knew and made me happy was fake. My world shattered before me and I was tossed right back into that black void I escaped the first time. I didn’t quit WoW because I had so much fun playing the game, so I just kept playing constantly talking to guildys trying to forget about what had happened. But I had to confide in someone, I played an online RTS game with some guildys and got to know a few of them. One day I started talking to a guildy (lets name him T). Me and T got to know each other and became online friends. I told T what had happened with my ex best friend and my shitty home life. T did not judge me and listened and genuinely cared. Finally one night my pain got the best of me and I planned to OD on some pills… when I went to get them I couldn’t find them. The next day I told T what I tried to do and he was glad I didn’t find the pills. He said he prayed for me and he said he would be sad if I did something like that. Just knowing someone like this guy, who is in the Army, has done two tours overseas, genuinely cared and wanted me to stay alive gave me hope again. It is because of World of Warcraft that I got to meet him.

Fast forwarding a few years and me and T have become really good friends. Finally I moved out of my parents house and he let me stay with him. T helped me start my life anew and I couldnt be happier. Withought World of Warcraft popping into my life I would be dead, and would have never of met T and have an amazing best friend, other amazing friends, and be genuinely happy in life.
