Apotheosis is a magic mod that tries to stay as true to the vanilla Minecraft experience as possible. This mod completely overhauls the enchantment and potion systems, allowing you to gain new effects and powers that’ll make you “stronger than ever before.” However, you’ll need to be careful since there are new monsters and traps to watch out for.

9. Astral Sorcery

Astral Sorcery focuses on harnessing the powers of starlight and the constellations. This mod allows you to go on a journey, where you’ll encounter many new items and structures while strengthening your cosmic magic. You’ll have to craft the Starlight Crafting Alter to craft magical items that can help you teleport, change stone to ore, and automate mundane tasks like farming.

8. Blood Magic

Blood Magic is the edgiest magic mod you’ll find for Minecraft. As the name suggests, you must use blood to access the dark arcane practices. Not only is it gruesome, but utilizing this magic can become deadly if not performed right. You can perform blood rituals that can give you flight, change the entire biome, or even summon meteors to rain down from the sky.

7. Botania

Botania is themed around the use of natural magic. You’ll have to use Mana, the earth’s natural power, to create magical flowers and devices. The goal of this mod is to help with automation. There are 16 magical flowers to help since they can power up furnaces or even teleport items.

6. Ensorcellation

Ensorcellation adds to the enchantment system in vanilla Minecraft. Not only does it add a huge number of new enchantments, but it also adds augmentations to previous enchantments. You can now also enchant new items that you couldn’t before, like horse armor.

5. Nature’s Aura

Nature’s Aura is a magic mod where you have to use Aura, the natural magic of the world. You’ll have to collect and replenish Aura to create useful devices such as the Extraneous Firestarter that’ll power furnaces and other machines without any fuel. This is the perfect mod if you’re looking for something more on the alchemy side of magic.

4. Not Enough Potions

Not Enough Potions does precisely what you might think: it adds a plethora of new potions to brew. You’ll have to use the mortar and pestle block items to grind up items to make new ingredients. This mod makes potion brewing more intuitive and allows you to make the perfect potion for any occasion.

3. Occultism

Occultism is based on the magical system from Jonathan Stroud’s Bartimaeus books. These books are set in a parallel universe where people can summon and control demons. With this mod, you’ll have to partake in magical rituals that can automate tasks, enchant tools and jewelry, and even summon demons to help mine.

2. Thaumcraft

If you’re looking for a more traditional wizard experience, Thaumcraft is for you. Not only will you be using a wand to cast spells, but there are plenty of other magical items that you can use. This mod will put your magical knowledge to the test. You’ll have to craft the Thermometer to scan and research mobs and other objects and gain research points. These will allow you to use the Research Table to research and create new magical compounds.

1. Witchcraft and Wizardy

Witchcraft and Wizardy throws you right into the world of Harry Potter with a custom map of Hogwarts. You’ll also be able to attend classes in the wizarding school and learn new spells. It’s also optimized so you can play online with your friends and attend spell classes together.
