Currently with the release of numerous MMO titles, we’ve seen a huge influx in the online community for PC and Mac. With the various choices out there, I ask myself,
“Which game do I put my money into and will it be worth my time?”
In recent days I’ve found a weird habit of jumping from one MMO to another. Dabbling here, dabbling there. And I’ve come to find that, in all honesty, F2P (free-to-play) games just all around suck. Now, not all of them do, but for the majority of these games, they’re just packed with blah. My time has been invested into many of these F2P games and I’ve been disappointed in the three C’s in each of them. Yet, in P2P (pay-to-play) I’ve found that the three C’s are great!
What Are The Three C’s You Ask?
The three C’s are crafting, combat and customization. Each part plays a vital role in the game. Whether you want to create your own items, fight monsters and minions, or trying to stand out from the other players.
Now, I have this planned out process of trying a game out. I’ll jump onto a game, play it for a month, and if I don’t like it, I’ll find a new one. Sometimes it doesn’t even last longer than a week, it’s so bad. Yet, I’m patient.
My process with P2P games however, is different–what can $20 do for me? In most cases, that’s two months worth of gameplay. In F2P, that’s usually about a week or two. Why is it so different? Because of microtransactions.
If an item comes out and it has everything you need, you go for it. In a P2P game that usually means grinding away to get to what you want to have and you build up a sentimental value to it when you finally get it. Yet in a F2P game you click here, insert paypal information there, click here again, and voila! The item is now on your account and you’ve just become a sucker for microtransactions. No sentimental value, just overpriced items at street-sucker cost.
I’ll admit that I’ve done that, I’ve bought a few items and then within a short span of time, I’ve spent more money than my limit of $20. Hence, why I like P2P games.
Which P2P Game Is Worth My Money!
Right now, I will be settling on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
The three C’s in this game amaze me! In a short video presentation which will explain better than words, I’ll show you what makes me smile.
Crafting
It’s simple, yet refined.
Combat
It’s fast paced and flashy.
Customization
It’s unique and vibrant.
Everything about this game has drawn me towards it. The interaction with other players, the amazing graphics, the combat, and the simplicity of its user interface have explained themselves more than enough.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has evolved so much from its previous counterpart that it is an entirely new game. From a something that was once lackluster to a game that is chalked full of goodies is an achievement in itself. And being that it is a P2P, It definitely has my support and my money.
Let me know what you think, if you have any MMO games (F2P or P2P) I should try out, shout out in the comments and I’ll check them out!
