When a game with a huge world releases, many fans like to try to hunt for all the hidden secrets that those worlds often hold. Often, the devs add extra hidden secrets that tie in with the game and challenge players to find them. A big game like Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is no exception and is inevitably filled with a ton of easter eggs. Back in November, head writer Darby McDevitt issued a challenge on Twitter. He said,
P.S. #AC4BlackFlag fans. There is an ultra-hidden John from I.T. Easter egg somewhere in the game. Someone tweet me if you find it.
— Darby McDevitt (@DarbyMcDevitt) November 7, 2013
Completionists everywhere took up the challenge to find the elusive egg.
Well, it took people three months, but someone has finally found it. YouTube user Kosappi Uni has risen to the challenge and found the hidden message in the sound files of ACIV. He was even gracious enough to post it. Just click on the video above to have a listen but be warned: If you haven’t beaten the game yet, this may spoil some things for you.
It is surprising that the dev team hid the message so well that it took three months to find. It is also interesting that the message very much meta and has a twinkling of truth. Perhaps the next Assassin’s Creed game will expand on the “John from IT” character. That would make for a very good story arch if handled with care.
