Or…What NOT to do in Arah…While looking for treasure.

“This place is hideous! The toxic waters, the putrid walls…and the lifeless atmosphere,” said the curvy Norn.

“Hold yer wits ‘bout ye’! Woman, I have no need to hear yer whining. We’re here to look fo’ treasure, eh? Ye’ know, gold and relics. We’ve no time to admire the architecture!”

Unable to restrain herself at the sound of these insults, the Norn then proceeds to remove her gloves and with one easy gesture she pushes the man into the wall, keeping him in place by the neck.

Everything happened so fast that the he did not even had time to grab his pistol, as his head met the wall, the man almost lost his conscience.

“The very architecture you spit on, listens to us right now. When it will see convenient, an army of undead creatures will ambush us, and they will do everything they possibly can to kill us. Do not argue, we need to be a team, not to leap at each other’s throats.”

The two of them lengthened the distance between them and went further ahead in the ruined city known as Arah.

Each foot-step echoed through the walls, and whispers followed them not very long after. The hearts of the two raiders were beating harder, much faster and the whispers turned into deafening sounds,  accompanied by a tight group, but visually organized of undead creatures.

On ground, two risen creatures, equipped with scraps of chain mail armor and wielding weapons equally  grotesque in appearance. One of them was wielding a massive spiked club, with blood and seaweed dipping on the black ground below, releasing a poisonous gas on contact. The other one, more burly in appearance, wielding two rusted, broken swords.

On a higher level, staying on the ruins of what seemed to be a balcony, with the golden details of the fences still visible beneath the dirt, glittering at the sight of the sick, twisted sun looming above the Cursed Shore, were two archers and staying taller than the rest a head-less orrian spellcaster, hissing and waving it’s staff in a frenzy.

Both teams charged.

The risen soldiers were dealt with ease, the human man stabbing them in an instant then the Norn woman raising her staff in the air, casting a spell that burned , poisoned and chilled the two foes, killing them on spot.

The mage lost no time and with one hastily move of it’s bony hand, the creature bought upon the adventurers a lightning storm. The ceiling turned itself into a black smoke-filled with clouds and the conjured force of nature fell mercilessly on the floor below.

Yet once more the Mesmer woman raised her staff high in the air, closed her eyes in meditation and a purple aura enveloped her, then it extended and swallowed an area of several feet around the spellcaster.

The man knew what that meant, and grinning he made a run for it. Once inside the magic bubble, the two of them were completely invulnerable to the attacks of the risen mage, all of it’s thunders were reflected at him and the archers near to it.

“Good work, remind me if we get alive fro’ ‘ere, to buy ye something nice.”

Then he dashed, made a jump on the wall and leaped at the balcony, however, the archers outrun him in actions and before he had the chance, they kicked him in the stomach, enough to put him on the ground. One of them took an arrow from it’s quiver and aimed at the wounded human.

As he prepared to end the man’s life, a pinkish ghostly in appearance version of the Norn appeared and stabbed it, then exploded, stunning and blinding the rest of the risen creatures.

The human was already back on his feet and sunk the blades of his daggers deep into the forehead of each of the creatures, allowing the Mesmer to cast one last curse upon them.

They both watched with delight as the creatures, poisoned, burned and frozen stopped moving.. forever.

Upon their deaths, an enormous door opened, giving them passage to a room  filled with gold coins and ancient tomes.

“They were guarding the treasure.”

“Ye bet they WERE”

They entered the room and as the man started to fill his pockets with as many gold coins as he could carry, the Norn only had eyes for a book. An ordinary-looking book. The covers were brown, and the pages wet from all the centuries of being underwater.. yet something drew her toward it.

She opens it.

Her world stops spinning, the walls collapse, the ceiling disappears high in the sky, piercing it and sucking it far, far into the oblivion…leaving her falling into an endless abyss.

A hand extends, and without thinking she takes it in her own.

“Power beyond your wildest thoughts…”

“Riches to make the queens and kings look like beggars”

“And respect…to build and destroy nations. With a word”

“All yours, if you take me…into you.”

“Just save me!”

The voice then laughs, and a torso  appears connected to the hand, then a head, followed by legs. All dressed in a red robe, and wielding a dark scepter.

The Lich enters her body and her shape changes, it evolves.

With a look, she kills the man who was her friend and leaves the dead city.

“I never thought I would see Tyria again.. it’s been long…”
