James Wan, the film director of multiple hits, including The Conjuring 2, Fast and Furious 7, and the upcoming Aquaman movie, does not want to be hasty with the next possible Mortal Kombat movie. Rumors have been spreading all over the web concerning a possibility of another Mortal Kombat movie, but based on a recent interview with IGN, James Wan is clearly interested in being apart of it.
In Wan’s words:
“The key here is to try and do it right. I don’t want to rush into it. So right now, we’re just trying to take our time to make sure it’s heading in the right direction. I think that’s more important than trying to rush through it and pump up something that no one likes.”
Based on this statement, Wan is playing it smart. His exact role in the potential movie is not set in stone yet, so he could be the director or the producer for all we know. With the projects he has on his plate at the moment, it’s highly debatable what role he could take.
It’s been twenty years since we’ve had a Mortal Kombat movie, and not a very good one, but based on these words of such a promising director, it’s possible Mortal Kombat fans may get the film they deserve.
