If you remember Dragon Age: Origins, then you remember that your character could choose what race he or she wanted to be. Sadly, in Dragon Age II, that ability was removed. You only had the choice of a male or female human. Well now Dragon Age: Inquisition is bringing back your choice of races.
I loved the race choices in DAO but I always ended up being an Elf. In DA II I was truly disappointed that I had to be Human. The elves were always my favorite race, and I loved the racial persecution that the non-Human races received in the game. It made the game feel more real and you got to see who in the game was a racist ass-hat. I liked the choices of who you wanted to side with and, for me, it made the decisions easier when I knew who was a racist and who wasn’t.
Now, thanks to Creative Director Mike Laidlaw, we finally know that racial choices are back. In the above video he discusses why they brought them back and why it has not been announced until now. This is a great decision, I know all those Dwarves and Elves out there will be happy. We see some early models of Elves, Humans, and Dwarves in the video. All of the models look amazing and hopefully the very high detail reflects how polished the visuals in the game will be. He also tells us that the race and class you pick is going to have a bigger impact than it did in DAO, I can’t wait to find out what that means for my Elven Mage.
Even with all this great news we still have to wait quite a while to see the new Dragon Age: Inquisition. Dragon Age:Inquisition will be releasing for the Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and the PC. The release date is currently set for the third quarter of 2014.
