Last week, imgur user GatorMacheteJr made a post about how he has been saving bottlecaps for over 7 years in honor of one of his favorite games, Fallout 3. Bottlecaps are used as a standard currency in the franchise.

Upon the announcement of Fallout 4, he decided to mail his collection to Bethesda’s office with a letter detailing his intention to pre-order the game:

“I’m hoping if this post gets popular enough their PR department will be too nervous to turn me down,” he captioned the letter, with many commentors agreeing it would be good publicity for Bethesda to answer him.

This week, he received an email from Matt at Bethesda, who also tweeted a picture of the received caps, promising GatorMacheteJr a copy of the game in November, apparently making of a point of saying “since [he] was the first person to do this” to deter more boxes from showing up at their office.
