Felicia Day has been nominated for Notable Gaming Personality in this year’s Dragon Slayer Awards, and for good reason. Miss Day is one of the ambassadors for nerdy girls everywhere, plus an icon for gamers and geeks of all walks of life.
Miss Day is a professional actress you can find in many a Joss Whedon project, from the early days of featured appearances on Buffy the Vampire Slayer to her lead role in “Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog.” More recently, she has appeared on Supernatural and Eureka, two popularly nerdy shows. But many know Day from “The Guild,” the quirky web series she created herself that follows the dramatic life of a guildie.
Day is active in the community, specifically on YouTube and Twitter. Not too long ago she launched the company Geek and Sundry, with a YouTube channel of the same name. The channel flaunts seven shows, including her video blog called “The Flog.” In addition, Day’s production company Knights of Good produced the web series “Dragon Age” with EA/BioWare in 2011, which you can watch here.
She keeps up with her fans and happily interacts at the many cons she attends. Day sports many talents: acting, writing, producing, entrepreneurship, improv, and capturing the hearts of geeks with her sweet personality and her wit. Plus, no one can dispute just how much “The Guild” has linked MMO players together and deepened their connection to their guilds or appreciation for their addiction.
For fun, someone captured a panel with Felicia Day and fellow DSA nominee Wil Wheaton talking about how to deal with trolls on the internet. Both of them have inspiring words and show how real these celebrities are and how relevant this is considering the extent of cyberbullying. Enjoy.
