Metal Gear Solid is, without a doubt, one of the most popular series among gamers. The next entry in the series, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, has had its fair share of drama with the exit of Hideo Kojima from Konami, but hardcore fans are still anxiously awaiting September 1st. With MGS V's release only a few days away, I wanted to take a look at some awesome collectibles from the series.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Collector's Edition
If you were lucky enough to pre-order one of these bad boys, then well, lucky you. The collector's edition of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain includes:
- The game
- A steel book with map
- A Blu-ray with documents and game trailers
- Weapons and cardboard box pack
- Snake costume pack
- Venom Snake emblem
- & a half-scale replica of Snake's bionic arm!
Unfortunately, you'll probably have a lot of trouble finding one of these are they seem to be sold out online for most retailers. If you do manage to find one, the price is $99 for the entire set. Not a bad deal.

Metal Gear Rex
Created by ThreeA Toys, this 19-inch tall replica of Metal Gear Rex from Metal Gear Solid is impressive. The replica is distributed by Sideshow Collectibles which are known for their high-quality collectibles. In addition to the amazing detail, Metal Gear Rex also has a light up component. Just look at this guy. He is awesome.
Unfortunately, awesomeness does come at a price. The standard price is $489.99. However, with this figure being sold-out through Sideshow's website, you will likely have to pay more if you want to get your hands on one.

Metal Gear Solid: Play Arts Kai Solid Snake
Part of Square Enix's Play Arts Kai line, this Solid Snake action figure was released in 2012. The figure stands around 10 inches tall and is heavily articulated much like the rest of the Play Arts line. In particular, Snake's armor and face are sculpted well. The paint job is great too, especially on his armor.
As this figure was released a few years ago, it is somewhat hard to find. You can buy it on Amazon, but the personal sellers have increased the price tremendously. Normally, it retails for $59.99, but I have seen them on Amazon for $300!
If you can find one at your local comic book store for a good price, definitely pick it up!

Play Arts Kai: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Raiden
Similar to the previous Solid Snake figure, Raiden comes from the same Square Enix Playarts Kai line. However, this version of Raiden is from Platinum Games' Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and not from Metal Gear Solid 2. In my opinion, this version looks way better.
Raiden's look in the game is awesome and Playarts does a great job in recreating the character. The figure is highly poseable which is particularly awesome with this figure.
Good news! Unlike the other collectibles, this figure is relatively new. It retails for $89.95 and can be found on Amazon.com!

Naked Snake and The Boss Collectible Figures
Created by Hot Toys, these figures of Naked Snake and The Boss are amazing. Both figures are about 12 inches in height and incredibly detailed. Hot Toys is known for their keen eye for detail and incredibly accurate facial sculpts. Both of these figures definitely fit up to their high standard.
Of course, I have to end this on a downer, right? Both of these figures are seemingly sold out everywhere, so it would only be possible to purchase them through a private collector. Normally, Naked Snake retails for $214.99 and comes with a cardboard box (!), extra hands, and guns. The Boss retails for the same, yet comes with some extra hands and giant rocket launcher.

Do you own any of these awesome Metal Gear Solid collectibles? Or did I leave something out? If so, let me know in the comments! You would be making The Boss proud.
