Gondefire Productions is an independent studio that has been receiving a lot of praise over the last few months, specifically for the team’s ambitious and exciting new game Harvest, which is currently in development. If you remember, earlier this year we had an exclusive interview with Gondefire Productions’ founder Kevin Gondek as we discussed Harvest and the Kickstarter campaign that was in progress. We are happy to report that the Kickstarter was a success with the Gondefire team meeting their goal.
So what happens now? What happens after a successful Kickstarter campaign? We got a chance to talk with Kevin again to catch up on what has happened since we last spoke to him.
What has been the toughest challenge post-Kickstarter?
“The toughest challenge has been getting all the paperwork done and getting a schedule together. This way everyone on the team will be on the same page and know what’s getting done and when.”
Is everything going to plan and running smoothly?
“Everything is going great! Right now, things are going at a nice pace.”
Now that you’ve gone through the Kickstarter process, would you do it again in the future and why/why not?
“I think we would definitely do another Kickstarter. Using their platform has opened up many doors for Gondefire Productions and has helped build a fan base.”
Do you have any tips for people getting started with their Kickstarter projects?
“Make sure you have all the information you want people to know at the beginning of the Kickstarter campaign. The more you explain the details, people will understand your project and will be more likely to back you.”
What’s the most important thing to keep in mind during and after Kickstarter to make sure the entire thing is a success?
“I think social media is probably the biggest key to a successful Kickstarter, and keeping in touch with your backers through the whole process.”
What point are you at now with development of Harvest?
“We’ve just finished the script for the prologue and first act of Harvest, and we’ve been casting the voice actors.”
Since the player is taking up the role of a detective, will there be a branching storyline or more of a linear narrative track?
“Harvest will be more of a linear track, but you will play the story out as a few characters.”
How much will players be able to interact with other characters?
“You will be able to interact with every character you encounter. We really want to put the player in the character’s shoes.”
Do you have any ideas/plans for future games after Harvest?
“We have a few ideas for some games in the future. We’re even in the process of co-producing a game with another company. Without spilling the beans, there may just be another Kickstarter by the end of the year!”
Thanks Kevin for speaking with us!
