Every now and then, a game is revealed with a unique concept that sets it apart from its competition. Among horror games, one upcoming title adds a twist that’s particularly perfect if you love dogs. A mix between spooky and cute, Haunted Paws offers a unique twist on the cozy horror trend.

Cozy and Creepy Meet in Haunted Paws with the Cutest Twist

Haunted Paws is a horror game that places you in the role of a dog or dogs for co-op. The goal of your journey is saving your human friend, which is incredibly fitting while playing as a man’s best friend. While playing as an animal seems to be increasing in popularity, it offers a few unique advantages in the horror genre.

Horror From the Perspective of a Dog

As a dog, or dogs, trying to save your human friend from a haunted mansion, it’s possible that some threats are actually mundane items or circumstances. This allows the developers to create a mix of paranormal events and events that seem scary to dogs, but wouldn’t be to humans. If you have a dog, you know that they tend to have at least one household item or appliance that terrifies them. 

So, I’d find it fitting for Haunted Paws to include a vacuum cleaner boss to show that not every encounter has human fears. Instead, mixing the haunted house idea with the perspective of dogs that might find normal items frightening offers the developers a chance to form a disorienting, unpredictable experience. I believe leaning into the fact that the game is from the perspective of a dog brings a lot of potential for mechanics, puzzles, and enemies that don’t usually appear in horror.

Haunted Paws will offer a unique twist on the cozy horror trend, and that creates the chance for developers to get creative with the content.
