How do you sell a contradiction? The Story of Sold and Her Moa

Stealthy, solitary, cat-like... none of these words describe Sold.

As a follower of Snow Leopard’s teachings, Sold was always out of place.  It was a difference in priorities mostly – while other students learned to hunt and practiced stealth, Sold liked to practice her dancing.

Knowing deep down that she could never be like the other followers, she prayed to Snow Leopard Spirit for advice.

As she prayed, she overheard a nearby Norn’s plans to join a Moot.

That was it!

She could work there and enjoy the music and dancing!  She left at once and applied for a job helping with the party.  Tholin was a little unsure about her strange outfit, she certainly didn’t look like the usual party-goers.  But, being in good spirits, Tholin decided to give her a chance and Sold got to work moving ale kegs.

Unfortunately, there was a bit of a wardrobe malfunction.  It turns out that firey vambraces aren’t the best things to wear when carrying wooden kegs of ale.  The keg ignited, exploding in a burst of bluish-purple flames and injuring a few guests in the process.

Her career over, Sold took to the streets of Lion’s Arch.

She began to practice her control of fire so that she would never again hurt an innocent party-goer.  Though she worked hard, it was lonely training.  She took joy in watching the Moa Races.  Their bright colors spoke to her and she cheered them on as they ran by. As one group passed, she noticed something lying in the dust behind them.  It was a helmet!  One of the racers must have dropped it.  She tried to call out to the birds as they ran.

But the birds of course ignored her, eager to win.  Sold tried on the helmet herself.  It was a perfect fit!  She felt complete, as if she could take on the world!  She figured that her mastery of fire was good enough, and out into the world she went.

One day Sold was wandering aimlessly, and dancing a bit when she thought nobody was watching, when she heard a baby moa in trouble.  Sold felt that she owed much to the moa who had lost the helmet she now wore, so she felt obliged to try and help this young moa in turn.

When she approached she discovered that the young moa was not alone – it was being bullied by an adult moa!  Sold rushed in to help – using her mastery of fire to force the adult moa to back off.

As Sold turned to the young moa, she gasped.  The young moa had a helmet like hers!  Sold couldn’t understand the moa’s squawks – but it seemed to be saying goodbye to the adult.  The adult walked away and from that moment on the young moa followed Sold everywhere.

Their first night together, the moa seemed to be scared.  Sold tried to shield it from whatever bad thoughts might be haunting it.

The moa seemed to settle down after that, and as it slept Sold watched over it.  She knew that she would never be lonely again.  As Sold got tired and lied down to rest, the moa stood guard over her.

And so began their adventures together.  Wherever Sold went, the moa stood by her.

Sold could now control the fires she started and so it was perfectly safe for the moa to be near her.  Indeed, the moa seemed to be excited by the fires – perhaps it enjoyed the bright colors?

As time went on, the two became more and more in tune with each other.  Sold’s shouts started to sound more and more like squawks.  Their stances became similar.

The odd pair danced their way around the world.  Though their squawking seemed to scare off potential friends, they had each other, and that was all they needed.

Sold’s staff, hammer, torch, scepter, and shield are from the Jade Weapon Set.  Her greatsword is a Naga Fang.  Her clothes are as follows:
