Indie Games Take The Spotlight at Sony’s Gamescom Presentation

Sony is smart to focus on Indie developers.
This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

For those of you who missed the Sony Gamescom livestream earlier today, you have probably not heard about the release date and many of the new games that are coming to PS4 once it launches November 19 for the U.S and Canada and November 29 for Europe.

Among these games are Drive Club, Infamous: Second Son and Killzone: Shadow Fall, which certainly look like great games, but Sony seemed to put a lot more emphasis on the Indie games, exclusives and non-exclusives alike. Games like N++, Rogue Legacy, Guns of Icarus Online, and even Fez, are Indies that have a potential to help Sony score big this season.

With Microsoft releasing highly anticipated games like Titanfall and also offering Fifa ’14 with preorders, the Xbox One has certainly gained some ground in their fight to stay on top.

I think that Sony has made a good decision to try to entice the Indie developers over to their console because it gives PlayStation 4 an edge. Indie games are always growing in popularity and the developers of these game get to explore ideas rather than create another first person shooter game or another flight simulator.

I think that Sony is winning the Indie battle and have more enticing benefits to developers that choose to go exclusive. What do you think? Are Indie games going to keep one console on top of the other?
