So GameSkinny wants me to write about a family or friend’s favorite game as this week’s assignment. I chose my best friend, Andrew, and asked him what his favorite game was.
Turns out, his favorite is one of my old favorites too: Kingdom Hearts. Heres how the interview went down:
Why is Kingdom Hearts your favorite game?
“When the first game came out I was the same age as the main character Sora. The story immediatly got me hooked – save a hot chick from the powers of darkness. It is a perfect mixture of childhood wonder, and storyline maturity.”
Authors note: Sora was fourteen in Kingdom Hearts and lives on the Destiny Islands with his best friends Riku and Kairi.
What makes Kingdom Hearts such a unique game to you?
“Kingdom Hearts is one the only games I know of that is a truly real time RPG, you actually have to fight and run and use magic in real time. No pausing to study the enemies move, just pure raw reflexes. The combination of Square Enix characters and disney is always fun and good for a laugh.”
What was your favorite battle?
“My favorite battle would have to be the one against Sephiroth, it’s the hardest boss fight in the entire game. It’s not related to the story, but it requires more skill than any other battle in the game. It takes me 20-30 tries to beat him, even if I dont die any time in the game.”
What are your favorite scenes from the game?
“I love all the Disney tidbits. You get to be part of a musical and sing “Under the Sea“. My other favorite part of the story is when you have to fight your inner darkness. It says a lot about the motives of the developers and how they wanted the game to have depth.
If you could change one thing about the game?
“I would have kept the game to one system, instead of flippin’ it back and forth between the Playstation and Nintendo consoles. They should have either stuck with Playstation or Ninendo and not make people buy every system out there just to keep up with the storyline.”
I have known my friend Andrew for around three years and now I know why this amazing game is his favorite. My favorite part about Kingdom Hearts would have to be the Sephiroth boss battle too. Who wouldn’t want to fight against him in fast-paced action RPG?
