Sadly I’m Bored of Hearthstone

I feel like everybody and their cousin has been going bananas over Hearthstone beta keys for weeks now. I, unfortunately, do not have a beta key, so I wanted to know what all the fuss was about. There are a few people who do Let’s Plays and stream games on Twitch that I normally go to in situations like this, so I watched some game play and thought, “Well this is cool.”

Now, I’ve watched way more Hearthstone than I care to admit, and I have to say I am acutely bored. I can’t comment on how fun the gameplay is, but I can tell you it’s dull to watch.

I love watching card games. I’ve seen games of Magic played in real life and I’m always engaged by the art, the strategy, the lore, and the banter. Hearthstone doesn’t have any chat system, so there isn’t any banter. It’s lore and strategy come from World of Warcraft and are therefore steeped in so many years of history that it’d take ages to understand without playing myself.

Also, the gameplay is slow. It takes a few seconds for the cards to move around and in those moments, I lose interest. Maybe I’m exaggerating the problems. Maybe this is the best game ever and it’s worth the hype, but I’m bored of Leroy Jenkins and Murlocs. You can argue with me in the comments if I’m wrong.
