Pokemon Legends: Z-A is primed to follow up 2022’s Legends: Arceus next year. This time around, we’ll head back to the Kalos region, where X & Y of Generation VI took place. While its three-year development process is still underway, one fan’s observation suggests Legends: Z-A might’ve been in the cards since Arceus was in the works. Here are the details.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus Protagonist Wears Kalos Clothing
With the reveal trailer for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, details from the last Legends entry are coming full circle. When Legends: Arceus launched back in 2022, some fans noted the protagonists’ clothing looked rather familiar. This is because both the male and female leads kick off the game’s events wearing clothing designs that appeared in past entries.
Back then, it was easy to write off these observations. After all, Legends: Arceus was merely a standalone title at the time. Any connections to previous entries could be discounted as fan service. However, the narrative has changed with the addition of Legends: Z-A. One X (formerly Twitter) user was quick to point out the implications behind the main characters’ recycled clothing.
The male lead’s top in Arceus is dubbed the Essential T-Shirt in X & Y, where we first set foot in Kalos. I’ll admit this is definitely a compelling find, given Z-A will be set in the same region. Although, it’s also worth noting the Hisuian heroine wears yet another past design that was first featured in Sword & Shield — which only thickens the ongoing plot in my book.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A Might Have Been Planned Since Legends: Arceus
At the very least, it seems Arceus’ male hero may have been a Kalos native. But, more than that, this could mean Game Freak and The Pokemon Company have been dropping hints about Z-A since the release of the first Legends title. Hindsight is 20/20, as they say. This wouldn’t be the first time Pokemon’s development team has alluded to a future release.
Heck, the same X user who noted the reuse of the Essential T-Shirt in Legends: Arceus has also pointed out Scarlet & Violet Easter eggs in past games.
Coupled with the fact that this is the only instance where we’ve seen clothing designs repeated since the inception of character customization in X & Y, I’d say we have a solid piece of evidence on our hands — and perhaps even more theories to mull over.
That said, it looks like devs are taking their time with the production of Pokemon Legends: Z-A and the next generation of games. This is all speculation, of course. It’ll probably be a while until we learn more about the upcoming installment. In the meantime, check out the 10 new Mega Evolutions we’d love to see.
