The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
The sequel to the highly praised Witcher 2 is coming out on May 19th. It is an exciting time to be a gamer, as The Witcher 3 throws you into the beautiful Northern Realms, pitting you against the insane monsters and activities that come with it. Along with the well-crafted scenery, you are surrounded by a society plagued by social dilemmas as you travel through the towns and meet the citizens.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be coming out as a full priced title from the developers at CD Projekt Red as a ton of hype rides alongside it. With that said, there is no question this is going to be one of the biggest releases of the year.
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood
One of the most lovable shooter franchises made returns on May 5th. Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is coming out, and it serves as a prequel to The New Order. Through the story you play as B.J. Blazkowicz, and your mission is to infiltrate the Wolfenstein Castle to steal secret information. As you sneak through the dark corridors, new weapons are introduced along with an upgrade to the customization system. The developers meant for The Old Blood to be playable for anyone new to the franchise.
One of the most exciting things about this release is that the game is only $19.99, instead of your usual $59.99. With the promise that the Wolfenstein franchise brings, it is almost a steal. This game will be released on the PC and both Xbox One, and PS4.
Splatoon
It looks like Nintendo is getting into the 3D shooter genre! Well, less like Call of Duty, and more like the cute art inspired characters that they usually make. Splatoon is Nintendo's newest third-person shooter game coming out on May 29th.
Also, it is more of a turf war where players try to paint the map of their team's particular color, and the only way to do that is with well-coordinated teamwork and tactics.
It's going a 4 on 4 fight at the end of May, and if you own a Wii U, this is one of the big releases you won't want to miss out on.
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition
If you haven't played Shadow of Mordor yet, this is the perfect time to jump into it. The Game of the Year edition will be coming out on May 5th for the PS4 and Xbox One, and it includes all the extra add-ons that have been launched since the game's initial release.
Shadow of Mordor received very high praises for its combat mechanics, and also for what happens when you die. Unlike any other game, dying has more of a significance than just a "game over" screen. Every time you die, you make your enemy more powerful, giving way to new taunts from the boss, and a tougher experience the second time around.
Adventures of Pip
Hailing from its Kickstarter roots, Adventures of Pip is a cute 8-pixel side scroller that comes with a cool retro style and unique mechanics. Pip is a small red pixel that goes on a journey to fight the evil pixel absorbing queen, and he has the ability to turn into a boy to make his fight easier. The further along you get, the more you can evolve, which makes turn certain scenarios on the map into easier ones.
Adventures of Pip will be coming out for the PC and Wii U on May 14th, and this new indie game will be only $14.99.
