5. Cuphead
2015 looks like it's going to be a great year for 2D platformers with games like Mighty No. 9 and Cuphead on the horizon. We are kicking off this list of our Top Anticipated Games of 2015 with Cuphead, a unique-looking 2D game based on stylistic 1930s animation. The development team has been fairly quiet since the first glimpse of the title at E3 2014, but we certainly haven't forgotten about our porcelain hero.
The game looks absolutely gorgeous and we can't wait to see if there's enough substance to back the ambitious style.

4. Massive Chalice
Turn-based strategy games tend to be big hits with recent years seeing some excellent titles via Fire Emblem, XCOM, Shadowrun Returns, Banner Saga, Wasteland 2, and Divinity: Original Sin. Now, Massive Chalice could be the next big game in the genre.
Originating on Kickstarter, this game is currently in Early Access on Steam and has already received acclaim for its beautiful art direction and unique lineage mechanics.

3. Evolve
Evolve's 4v1 concept makes it the asymmetrical multiplayer darling of 2015. Four players select amongst a variety of human classes to hunt down one big bad monster. As each match progresses the four hunters will have to use teamwork and coordination to overcome the monster player as he/she is able to evolve and grow more powerful.
Currently there are two monsters and four hunters announced for Evolve, with more teased. The first-person shooter looks like a refreshing change of pace and offers the potential for some very interesting eSport-level competition.

2. Star Wars Battlefront 3
Battlefront holds a special place in many gamers' hearts, and with good reason. Both Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2 were met with great reactions from players and critics alike, and the decade-long gap since Battlefront 2 has left fans dreaming of a triumphant return. We don't know too much yet, and haven't seen official gameplay footage, but it is hard to imagine this beloved franchise not on this list.
This year, barring any delays, we could finally have the Star Wars game that this generation of gaming needs.
Release Date: Holiday 2015
Developer: DICE
1. Torment: Tides of Numenera
This is the second Kickstarter game on this list, and with good reason. Brian Fargo is a massive name in the western RPG genre, and his studio inXile is bringing back the classic, story-driven RPGs of old. Tides of Numenera is planned to be a successor to Planescape: Torment, a game widely considered to be one of the best examples of storytelling in video games.
InXile's recent success with Wasteland 2 has all but proven that today's gamers are pining for the nostalgic days of Planescape, Baldur's Gate, and Icewind Dale. Along with several other isometric RPGs from 2014 and more in the works, the return to slower literary genre is welcome and hotly anticipated. The early footage of Numenera is currently showing great promise.
