Are you on first-name basis with the kitten that won the internet?

Did you know Nyan Cat before it was cool?

If so, and you have a valid license and even an ounce of live event management experience, you should probably check out this job posting:

“The Internet Cat Video Festival is a celebration of online cat videos that has received national and international recognition since its inception here at the Walker in 2012. For our third edition, this year’s festival will be a free event on the Walker’s Open Field on Thursday, August 14th 2014.

We are seeking a dynamic, well organized and capable individual to coordinate and support production and logistics for this amazing event.”

Sure, it’s a temp gig. Sure, it’s part-time. But consider the perks:

  • It’s a priceless opportunity to add: “Herding (virtual) cats” to your resume (think of all the interviews you’ll get because they want to ask what the hell that job was about).
  • A once-in-a-lifetime shot at handing a business card that says: “Event Coordinator: Internet Cat Video Festival” to the person next to you at a bar when they ask what you do.
  • This is quite possibly the one shot you have at a job unusual you’ll be able to tell your grandkids about it and have them not believe for one second that you actually did that job. “Oh really, sonny? Well let’s just see what Google caching has to say about that!”
Hey – it’s up to you. But if nothing else, it’s a great excuse to update your resume.
