There are five Diablo 4 classes, each with its own unique skill tree and class-specific mechanics. You’ll need to carefully consider all the pros and cons of each one of them before choosing the best option. Our guide will rank all classes in Diablo 4 in a tier list to help you decide which to pick during the game’s Season 1.
All Classes Ranked in Diablo 4 Season 1
S-Tier Class
Necromancer
The Necromancer is not only thematically the most recognizable class in the Diablo franchise but also the best class in Diablo 4 based on skills. The Necromancer’s abilities are built for going solo and include some incredible offensive and defensive options, such as Blight and Blood Mist.
The class can also conjure an entire army of skeletons, mages, and golems using the unique mechanic, Book of the Damned. The best part about the Necromancer in Diablo 4 is that you can customize your entire undead army to fit your personal playstyle.
A-Tier Classes
Druid
Druid is a returning class from Diablo 2, and it has shapeshifting capabilities, as well as access to some very powerful earth and storm magic. You can shapeshift into such forms like the Werebear and Werewolf, which last for a short period of time, before either returning to your default human form or taking another shape.
The most powerful offensive skill for this class is Crushing Blow, which could be of great benefit against bosses. The best debuff skill would be Vulnerable, which makes enemies weaker by 30%.
Rogue
Rogue can really surprise you with its range of weapon combos. You can switch between four types of weapons, including bows, crossbows, daggers, and swords.
You can also use Imbuements, which grant your weapons the ability to apply various status effects, such as Poison, Shadow, and Frigid energies. Due to the high mobility of this class, you can easily execute various melee AoE effects, especially if your weapons are imbued with curses.
B-Tier Classes
Sorcerer
If you want to focus solely on powerful magic spells, then the Sorcerer class would be a good choice, although it does have a few weak spots in its defensive capabilities. As a Sorcerer, you’ll gain access to various skills that involve fire, frost, and lightning magic. You can also use Crackling Energy, which allows you to collect energy balls that restore your mana.
But the best part about this class is the unique Enchantment mechanic that allows you to increase the number of your active skills from six to nine.
Barbarian
Players who want a more brutal, straight-to-the-point melee combat class should definitely choose the Barbarian. You’ll gain access to such weapons like Swords, Two-Handed Maces, and Dual Axes. This class also has access to various Shouts, a special crowd control mechanic.
Besides normal physical damage, Barbarians can also deal heavy bleeding damage, which is the best build route for this class.
Those are all the Diablo 4 classes ranked for the Season 1. As Blizzard tweaks and balances the game toward release, we’ll update this ranking based on what’s added and removed for each class. Be sure to check out more Diablo 4 tips and tricks articles right here.
