According to Nintendo’s recent NPD report, the squid-ink shooter Splatoon has sold 600,000 copies in the U.S.
While this might not sound like a whole lot, it’s actually a great number for a new franchise opening on a console with abysmal sales figures.
Critically well-received, Splatoon now has some financial success that could push Nintendo towards turning the shooter into a franchise with a sequel on NX.
In addition to the Splatoon sales figures, it was revealed that 7 million amiibo have been sold in the U.S. alone. That’s a lot of Mario and Luigi figures.
This financial success could be critical for Nintendo as they begin to develop a plan for the next console generation.
What do you think about Splatoon potentially becoming a franchise? Have you been purchasing way too many amiibo? Let me in the comments what you think about all of this Nintendo financial news.
