One of the red beam bosses you’ll have to defeat in the Unmoored World is this purple snake-looking boss. It’s called a Purgener, and you can find it where the waterfall used to be in the Sacred Arbor. Here’s how to beat the Sacred Arbor Purgener in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
How to Beat Sacred Arbor Purgener in Dragon’s Dogma 2
To defeat the Sacred Arbor Purgener, you’ll have to destroy all of the purple weak spots on its back because it doesn’t take any damage otherwise. The weak spots appear as little glowing points and are strech across the entirety of the snake’s body with the first ones being on the back end of its tail.
The rest hide behind the brine and begin to uncover as you destroy each revealed set. I need to point out that you shouldn’t climb the brined weakspots until they reveal themselves by destroying the previous set since the brine will immobilize you. You also cannot damage them with ranged attacks while the brine covers them.
The Sacred Arbor Purgener boss fight is a battle of attrition where you’ll slowly have to work your way through the weakspots while dodging attacks. The snake will move across the battlefield, spewing fire breath attacks, but you can stand behind towers as an Archer, Magick Archer, Sorcerer, and Mage and blast it from the cover.
Alternatively, melee vocations should actively climb their back to destroy the weakspots. I highly recommend positioning yourself between the two sets of weakspots while climbing because attacks will usually hit multiple points at once. Once you destroy the entire revealed set of weak spots, the snake will stagger, and more will reveal themselves, going up the back and toward the head.
How to Finish off the Purgener
This is when I usually dismount to regain Stamina and better hit all weak spots with sweeping attacks. Use Scarlet Kisses on Thief, Full Moon Slash on Fighter, Razing Sweep on Warrior, Winding Cut on Mystic Spearhand, and various AOEs from other vocations like Cascade Shot from Archer. You’ll beat the boss once you destroy all weak spots.
Lastly, once it starts charging, move away to avoid a massive cyclone and then go back in once it ends. I also recommend bringing Quenching Syrups and Mage pawns for healing.
That’s how you beat the Sacred Arbor Purgener. For more guides, visit our Dragon’s Dogma 2 game hub. Check out how to beat the Purgener Dragon or our endgame checklist.
