How to fix 3 common bugs and glitches in Oxenfree for Xbox One

Supernatural adventure game Oxenfree just released a few days ago, and a few bugs have already become apparent in the Xbox One version of the game. Luckily, developer Night School Studio has already found some fixes, which they posted on their blog. They intend to update the list as more problems become apparent, and hope to fix these and other problems in future updates to the game.

The three known bugs, as well as a step-by-step guide to fixing or working around them, are listed below:

After pushing the dumpster in Main Street and selecting “Go to Cliffs” Alex just stands there, and the game won’t continue:

1. Pause the game, select “Main Menu,” and restart the level.
2. While replaying the level, after you’ve pushed the dumpster into place again, move Alex to the left before selecting the option to ‘Go to Cliffs’ again. This issue only occurs if Alex doesn’t move after finishing pushing the dumpster and before selecting the option to ‘Go to Cliffs’.

After playing “Truth or Slap” Ren says they should hop the fence, but just stands by the fire holding a rock in his hand instead:

1. Pause the game, select “Main Menu,” and restart the level.
2. While replaying the level, if you choose to ask Nona a question during ‘Truth or Slap’, DO NOT pick the option that asks if she likes Ren. The other 2 questions (or silence) should allow you to proceed normally.

After opening the “Chest” in the attic of the Adler Estate, the conversation stops and the game continues:

1. Pause the game, select “Main Menu,” and restart the level.
2. Upon replaying the level, once you have the code for the Chest in the attic make sure Jonas is next to you before choosing to go up the staircase to the attic. If Jonas is nearby before going upstairs, the issue can be avoided.

The fact that these bugs were already apparent on release day probably isn’t a good sign, but at least Night School Studio has stayed on the ball when it comes to addressing any known errors.
