Some Deathloop players have been reporting that they’re getting an Error 0xC0000001D (Illegal Instruction), which crashes their game. Our guide will explain why this error happens and provide a working solution to this annoying error in Deathloop.
The problem has already been addressed by the developer and it is caused by the VoidEngine, which is built for PCs that run on processors with AES instruction set support. Follow our guide below if you want to know how to fix this issue.
How to Fix Error 0xC0000001D in Deathloop
AES instruction set is an Advanced Encryption Standard that has been adopted by Intel and AMD into many of their processors. Unfortunately, if you don’t have one of the processors that supports the AES instruction set, then you will not be able to fix this issue. You will have to upgrade your hardware instead.
The official error statement for Arkane Studios shows the following:
“Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) extension is required. This CPU is not supported or the extension was disabled.”
You can check the availability of the AES instruction set in your processor through BIOS by following these steps:
- Restart your PC
- Press DEL key when prompted on the boot screen
- Enter the BIOS menus
- Go to “Advanced” menu
- Enable the “AES” feature
- Save and exit
Now when your AES instruction set was enabled, Deathloop will not show the Error 0xC0000001D (Illegal Instruction) message and will not crash the game. This instruction set is used to improve the security protocols of programs that run on your PC and perform encryption and decryption.
The AES has been adopted by the Deathloop developer in order to avoid problems with illegal game downloads. If you don’t have this feature in your BIOS, then your processor may not support this instruction set.
Here is a list of all Intel processors that support AES technology:
- Westmere
- Sandy Bridge
- Ivy Bridge
- Haswell
- Broadwell
- Silvermont/Airmont
- Goldmont
- Skylake
And, here are all AMD processrors that support AES:
- Jaguar
- Puma
- Bulldozer
- Piledriver
- Steamroller
- Excavator
- Zen
