Unlike previous Souls games, magic is incredibly powerful Elden Ring, whether by sorcery or incantation. Thankfully, there are plenty of weapons that use Intelligence and Faith as a secondary damage stat: the Blasphemous Blade is one such weapon. And if you’re here, you’re wondering how to get it.
Armed with a devastating Ash of War that would rival Moonveil’s if it were faster, and with plenty of damage on its own, the Blasphemous Blade is well worth finding. Acquiring the Blasphemous Blade, however, is a much greater trial than the magic katana terrorizing PvP. You’ll have a real fight on your hands before you wrap your fingers around a powerful new toy.
Where to Find the Blasphemous Blade in Elden Ring
The Blasphemous Blade is only available once you defeat Praetor Rykard, the lord of Volcano Manor and demigod of the Mt. Gelmir region. As we mentioned in our Map Fragments guide, the most direct way to get there is to head west from the Altus Plateau. You’ll cross the Bridge of Inequity and make your way up progressively higher sets of ladders.
Pass by the Fallingstar Beast and make your way to Volcano Manor, then down to its north through a series of caves. You’ll eventually reach the outskirts of the Manor, fighting your way through a Godskin Apostate, and further down until you reach a portal device.
Going through the portal sends you to a cave deep below the mountain with golden boss fog close at hand. Through it is the God-eating Serpent which, when slain, reveals Praetor Rykard’s horrid form, but not before he pulls the original Blasphemous Blade from within his snake’s gullet.
Defeating Rykard grants you the Remembrance of the Blasphemous, which you can take to the Finger Reader in Roundtable Hold. The Blasphemous Blade is one of two options you can choose when creating from the Remembrance.
Blasphemous Blade Passive Effects and Abilities
You’ll need to put quite a few points into both Strength and Faith to get the most out of the Blasphemous Blade, but doing so makes it a powerful weapon in almost anyone’s hands. The Blasphemous Blade scales with Strength, Dexterity, and Faith, all at a D scaling without upgrading.
The primary draw of wielding this sword is its Ash of War, Taker’s Flames.
By pressing R2/RT, you’ll raise the Blasphemous Blade above your head, then slam it down, releasing a long wave of fire and rock that deals a metric ton of damage and knocks smaller foes back. Taker’s Flames also deals heavy stagger damage, so combining its admirable raw damage with the ability to send even the toughest enemies to their knees.
