Injustice 2 is now holding an open beta sign-up on its official website.

The beta is not open as of yet, but is being held for online players to hopefully obtain a spot in Netherealm’s upcoming sequel to their fighter Injustice. The game itself also is getting several new characters, in addition to some classics such as the Flash, Batman, and Superman. The new additions (announced so far) include Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes), Supergirl, Deadshot, Gorilla Grodd, and the pre-order bonus character Darkseid

The game itself seems to be highly craved by Netherealm’s fanbase, and the developer wants want to deliver with a new redesign function — allowing players to obtain gear for abilities, attributes, and designs of their favorite heroes as they play.

Injustice 2 is selling three versions as well, all with different bonuses.

The editions seen from left to right are the Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions. The standard edition, of course, only includes the game. The Deluxe versions allows the first 3 DLC characters to be obtained upon their release, then adds a premier skin and a gear shader pack. The Ultimate edition is gives you 9 DLC fighters as they are released, with three premier skins and 2 exclusive shaders. To be clear: shader packs can be used to customize the appearance of heroes, but premier skins are much more interesting.

Premier skins allow the changing of specific characters into new ones with their own voice lines, appearance, and dialogue. In this version, Flash can be turned into Zoom, Hal Jordan into Jon Stewart, and Supergirl into Powergirl. This raises the question of seeing multiple characters in one  — such as four different Robins, four different Flashes, three different Lanterns, and so on.

Injustice 2 releases on May 16. Which characters are you excited for or hope to play? Are there any premier skin theories you have?
