According to a new Famitsu feature, production on Resident Evil 8, aka Resident Evil Village, is over 60% complete, which Capcom is calling a turning point. There’s no news yet on a Resident Evil 8 release date yet, but more information is expected sometime in August.
Summary of the Resident Evil 8 Famitsu blurb comes from ryokutya2089.
The piece also mentions RE Village‘s use of first-person perspective is greatly evolved from its use in Resident Evil 7. What that means is anyone’s guess, though presumably, it means a more polished and refined experience.
We can likely expect a lot more polish in general too. Capcom noted RE8 is designed exclusively for next-gen platforms because it just wouldn’t work on current-gen consoles, and the company believes newer hardware makes better games possible. Which isn’t surprising, considering what the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are promising.
Finally, there was some clarification on the village itself —s ort of. It’s located somewhere in Europe, which obviously has quite a few places for a remote village to be. But given the places and legends shown off in the trailer, we’d be surprised if it’s in Spain like Resident Evil 4‘s setting.
Fortunately, August and more RE 8 information isn’t that far away. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Resident Evil 8 news as it develops.
