Resident Evil 4 Remake: How to Get and Use the Expanded Treasure Map

Need a little financial boost? The RE4 Remake Expanded Map Treasures can give you just that.

The economy of Resident Evil 4 Remake is a fickle thing. Unless you explore many of the nooks and crannies off the beaten path, you might be hurting for money for upgrades and other necessities until at least midway through a playthrough. However, having the Expanded Treasure Map can ease those burdens, but don’t expect to come by it cheaply, nor find it easy to use.

Where to Get the Expanded Treasure Map in RE4 Remake

Unfortunately, there are only two ways to get the RE4 Remake Expanded Treasure Map.

  • You can either purchase it directly for $3.99 from your store of choice
  • Get it as a part of the RE4 Remake’s Digital Deluxe Edition.

In short, the Expanded Treasure Map is paid DLC.

If you decide to pony up the real-world money for it, the Expanded Treasure Map’s contents will automatically be added to your standard in-game map. Expanded Treasures will appear as diamond symbols with a yellow plus symbol.

When you reach an Expanded Treasure location, you’ll need to look for hanging gilded cages, which you can attack either with a knife or a gun like the Red9. Doing so causes them to fall and leave their loot on the ground.

What you get from Expanded Treasure varies. It’s always some form of currency or valuable item. Many of them provide jewels and other sellable items, but you might also come across the rare Spinel jewels, which you can use to buy limited items from the Merchant.

We only recommend using the Expanded Map if you’re having consistent trouble keeping your pockets filled with cash. Selling jewels, valuable treasures with inset gems, and other items should offer enough to get by, but if you do have money issues, the Expanded Treasures can be an excellent supplemental funding source. So can the hidden Golden Chicken.

But that’s how to get and use the Expanded Treasure Map in Resident Evil 4 Remake. If you’re finding other parts of the game troublesome, we’ve covered many topics here, including how to solve the cave shrine puzzle, how to get the Capacity Compliance trophy/achievement, and even more in our RE4 Remake guides hub.
