Destiny 2: World Eater Raid Exotic Quest Guide

A curiously unfinished quest seems to lead directly into the new Destiny 2 Leviathan raid...
This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

Perhaps even more anticipated than the Destiny 2 release date itself is what we’re all really waiting for: the raids! This end-game content is what all the die hards want to get into as quickly as possible with their clan mates.

For those who already blazed through the campaign and hit max level, a new Leviathan raid is coming very shortly, which seems to be tied into the curious phrase “Await the World Eater.”

Below we cover everything we know about this raid so far and its dead end quest line that seems to involve a possible new exotic weapon.

Destiny 2 World Eater Exotic Quest

At this point, it is heavily suspected that the upcoming Leviathan raid is tied into the Await The World Eater exotic weapon quest.

After completing the main campaign, you may notice that Cabal randomly drop a quest item called On The Comms. This will show up in your heavy weapon slot and the item directs you towards Nessus.

At Nessus, kill more Cabal whenever you can until five Red Legion Communications drop. The drops are randomized, but public events seem to work well for farming the communications. Just keep killing until you get five.

Starting the Await The World Eater quest

After getting all five comm items to randomly drop over time, the quest list on the side of the screen will reveal your next step is to “Await The World Eater.”

That sounds all well and good… only there’s nothing at this point that you can actually do to finish that objective. There’s nowhere to go, no waypoints set, no enemy to fight, and no NPC to talk with that will actually satisfy the quest objective.

The quest just stops there, and it since it seems unlikely there would be an unfinished quest in the game, this leads us to believe it must be tied directly into the impending Leviathan raid set to arrive in just a handful of days.

A quest dead end, with promises of a powerful exotic weapon

Destiny 2 Leviathan Raid

UPDATE: Now that the Leviathan raid has arrived, we’ve got a full guide available right there.

It isn’t clear if this comms quest line is required to actually start the raid, or if its just a step along a quest tied to the raid that may lead to an exotic weapon.

This mystery won’t be solved until the Leviathan raid kicks off Wednesday, September 13th at 1:00 PM EST. Expect a whole lot more info to be available shortly after that raid kicks off!

As usual, the raid will be replayable, with new loot on each play through available once per week, and the raids this time around will not feature locked load outs.

We also know the raid will somehow feature a “Prestige” difficulty level, as well as a new death penalty not utilized in raids before. We’re probably also going to be fighting a giant space whale somehow.

Other than that, we’ll have to wait to find out what Bungie has in store. If you picked up the Collector’s Edition of Destiny 2 though, there’s some artwork that teases what’s in store with this Leviathan raid…

Sure seems like a world eater to me!

What do you think will happen with the World Eater quest line, and are you ready for the Leviathan raid to kick off? Let us know your theories in the comments below!
