I think we can all agree that it was a great move by Nintendo to make sure that Minecraft: Story Mode lands on the Switch, right? It's a game most of us have played before, but I think we can also agree that nothing really beats the online play of Minecraft from the desktop and laptop client.
If you're as much of a Minecraft fan as you are a Nintendo Switch fan, I've got nine of the best Switch-themed Minecraft skins for you to enjoy. These come from characters across Switch games that are out now or will be available in the future. Let's check them out!
Mario by JrGalaxyair1Hello
Can't wait for Super Mario Odyssey? Me either, but if you're a big Minecraft fan then maybe this skin can hold you over until then! Celebrate the upcoming platformer with Mario's exact outfit from the game, and let's hope Odyssey takes us back to the glory days of games like Super Mario 64.
Ryu by JhonnyJAA
Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers is scheduled for release in late May, but you can get the your hands on the Minecraft skin for the series' most beloved character right now! Ryu is to video games as Jackie Chan is to movies, and this skin is beautifully shaded and looks great. Got a friend? Check out this matching Ken skin, too!
Shovel Knight by MikeVazques
Shovel Knight is definitely one of the best 2D platformers to come out in the past five years, and I'm happy to see the Switch picking up on it. This skin shows the Shovel Knight in the gold-trimmed armor that we all remember the game. If you love platformers with a true retro feel, you'd love this.
Inkling by TheRoyalClover
This skin is of a purple-haired, female Inkling from the Splatoon series. Splatoon 2 has been one of the hottest games on the console since the launch of the Switch, and this is a very well-made skin for the staple character of such a well-made game. I never would have thought a wacky third-person shooter could be so fun!
Bomberman by spidzennn
It's crazy to think that such a simple video game character from 1983 is still relevant today. Bomberman has been featured in dozens and dozens of games of all types, but the most classic style is similar to what we've been given in Super Bomberman R on the Switch. Bomberman is a great character from a timeless puzzle game series, and this skin looks really nice.
Terry Bogard by RedPlyzMcPe
Terry is the main character from the Fatal Fury series and he's appeared in every single Final Fight and King of Fighters game. You'll be able to play as him in the upcoming King of Fighters '94 and '98 games on the Switch. He's regarded as one of the toughest and most classic fighting game characters ever.
Sonic by hashimagele
Long ago, before he ever gained internet meme fame, Sonic was one of the most original and interesting Sega platformer characters. These games taught us all that bringing speed to the genre takes it to a whole new level. Sonic Mania is set for release in Q2 or Q3 of this year, and Sega are really trying to go back to their roots with this one. This is one of the best Sonic skins I've seen!
Frieza by SirJunken
Dragon Ball XENOVERSE 2 has been out on several other platforms, but it's hitting the Switch sometime this year. Who better to celebrate it with than arguably the most famous antagonist of the Dragon Ball series: Frieza. Frieza's been around since the early days of the Dragon Ball anime series, and this skin really does him justice!
Nintendo Switch by MaybeABot
Last but not least, the Nintendo Switch itself… or himself? The Nintendo Switch has been one of the most successful console launches ever, and I hope to see the popularity of it only rise as several of the games mentioned earlier in this list are released. Show your support for the Switch by using this robot-esque, suited-up Minecraft skin in honor of it.
