The last few days have been full of new game announcements, new gameplay videos and even new consoles being shown off at E3 2016. There are so many great games coming out this year, and it looks like it is going to be a great year for gaming in 2016-2017. After watching all the announcements, these are the five games that I am most excited to get my hands on.
Dishonored 2
Release date: 11/11/16
I am a big fan of the original Dishonored, and when Dishonored 2 was announced last year I freaked out. I honestly didn't think we would get another Dishonored game anytime soon. Dishonored 2 looks like it will be just as fun and exciting at the first game. With the option to play as both Corvo and Emily, it gives players a reason to play through the game twice. I am really excited to see the new abilities that each character will have as well.
We Happy Few
Early Access begins: 7/26/16
Final Release 2016
This is a game that I am excited and not excited for at the same time. The game does look promising from the few trailers and the little bit of gameplay we have seen. But, In my opinion, it can be really easy to mess up a survival horror game. I don't think that they will honestly, but you never know.
The game does give off a creepy vibe. Just look at that part in the trailer with the pinata (towards the end). That was messed up. On the whole, We Happy Few has a very Bioshock feel to me. I have high hopes for this game and I plan on getting it during Early Access.
Outlast 2
Release Date: Fall 2016
Outlast 2 looks so good to me. The story seems great, and having to run and hide to crazy hillbilly looking people seems fun. The game definitely has the same creepy tone that the first game had, and I'm glad that this sequel seems to be keeping true to the first game. I will for sure be getting this game day one. I hope that the game is good, because I feel that horror games have really been lacking lately.
Gears of War 4
Release Date: 10/11/16
"Oh Gears, how I love you". Gears of War has been one of my favorite franchises since I was at GameStop back in 2007 and randomly picked up the first game. Ever since then I have been hooked. The story is amazing and rich, and the world the game it set in is dark. Gears is the first game to make me truly connect with a character. Dom is my favorite character in all of gaming. He's Marcus's rock and his best friend -- and without Dom, I honestly feel like Marcus would have just given up and died in the first game.
Gears of War 4 looks like it will carry on the same great storytelling and great characters. I think that this game is going to turn out great, and I can see it being my game of the year. The gameplay footage looks like a blast. I am also excited to see what new enemies they bring to the game and what kind of role the characters from Gears 1-3 will play.
Fallout 4 DLC Nuka World
Release Date: August 2016
Ok, the thing I am most excited about isn't a game but a DLC pack. This DLC for Fallout 4 looks so amazing that I couldn't put it anywhere but the number one spot. Nuka World is something that fans have been wanting for a long time.
Of course, not many details have been released yet but it looks pretty cool so far. The DLC will feature a whole new map area just like Far Harbor did. There's also an opportunity to play as a raider. The DLC will be $19.99 -- which is pretty steep, so I hope there is a lot of content included. This will be the sixth and final DLC for Fallout 4.
