Super Smash Bros. Adds a Much Needed Spark

Check here for everything on the new Super Smash Bros. games. for 3DS and WiiU.
This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

Nintendo’s Digital Event showed plenty of new information on Smash Bros. for the Wii U. One of the biggest announcements was the Amiibo feature.

Customize your Competition

Amiibo is the feature to put characters in your games which was announced earlier this year. It makes sense that it would be used on Smash Bros. first considering the game was all about figures coming to life in a game to fight each other.

Now, you actually get those figures. Unlike Skylanders or Disney Infinity, these figures aren’t used as playable characters in Smash Bros. Instead, when you put them in the game, an Artificial Intelligence is used.

This A.I. can provide back up for you, or even used to fight against. Every time you use it, it gains experience and skills. They level up faster when fighting against other figures. You can customize the figures any way you want and they’ll be harder than normal CPU players.

This gives competitive players a great way to practice when they can’t fight other humans.

Put Mii in Coach!

Another new feature, which I enjoyed the most, is the ability to play as your Mii in Smash Bros. for the Wii U.

There are 3 types of fighters to choose from:

  • Brawler – A swift and powerful hand to hand combat fighter.
  • Swordfighter – A master of the sword that won’t let you get away.
  • Gunner – Equipped with a huge arm cannon, they have a wide array of ranged attacks to stop you from getting close.

Each types can choose 4 special moves out of 12 available. This gives players the ability to customize their Mii fighters anyway they want.

Super Smash Bros. On The Go!

Smash Bros. for the 3DS also had more info during the digital event. They showed off more game modes, such as an adventure mode and various mini-games.

The official launch date for Smash Bros. 3DS is October 3, 2014

Year of Smash Bros.

There is plenty to get excited for the new games. One more thing before I go.

A New Challenger Has Appeared!

Lady Palutena of Kid Icarus joins the fray! As you can see, she can do a lot and I’m interested to see how she plays in the game.

UPDATE

Pac-Man is confirmed as a playable character in both versions of the game.

What do you think of everything revealed at E3? Looking forward to playing both Smash Bros. games? Let me know in the comments!
