Bandai Namco has revealed new information for the upcoming JRPG Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Hacker’s Memory — including details on new and returning characters, a new type of quest, and screenshots revealing some new obtainable Digimon which did not appear in Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth.
New and Returning Characters
Chitose Imai
The first character highlighted is a new character, Chitose Imai. Chitose is the vice leader of the hacker team “Hu Die” and helps improve the mood of the group while also being a creative hacker. Ankylomon — the Champion level form of Armadillomon originally introduced in the second anime series, Digimon Adventure 02 — seems to be his partner.
Nokia Shiramine
The other character highlighted is returning character Nokia Shiramine. Nokia has decided to create a new team called “Rebellions” to help protect Digimon from hackers with evil intentions. Nokia’s partners are Agumon and Gabumon, well-known Digimon from the very first season of the anime, Digimon Adventure, who can combine to become the Mega level Digimon, Omnimon.
New Digimon
The screenshots released alongside this new information have also revealed a five new obtainable Digimon, which have been detailed below.
Mushroomon
Mushroomon is a Rookie level Vegetation type Digimon and has appeared at least once in every Digimon anime series before the current one, Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters. Mushroomon’s signature attacks are Fungus Cruncher, Laughing Smasher, and Mushroom Mash.
Turuiemon
Turuiemon is an Animal type Digimon and the purified Champion level form of Lopmon — a Digimon first introduced through promotional material for Digimon the Movie and the partner of Suzy Wong in the third anime series, Digimon Tamers. Turuiemon has only appeared in the Digimon Fusion anime series, and this will mark its first appearance in a Digimon video game. Turuiemon’s signature attacks are Gauntlet Claw and Ninja Fist.
Airdramon
Airdramon is a Mythical Animal type Champion level Digimon who has appeared in a number of Digimon anime series and games. Airdramon’s most notable role was in Digimon Adventure 02, when squadrons of them were kept by the evil Digimon Emperor and controlled by his dark rings. Airdramon’s signature attack is Spinning Needle.
Megidramon
Megidramon, is an evil dragon Digimon and an alternate mega form of Guilmon, which happens when the full destructive power of the Digital Hazard — the symbol on the chest of every Digimon in the Guilmon digivolution line — is released.
Megidramon appeared briefly in Digimon Tamers, during perhaps one of the darkest scenes in the franchises history. Megidramon’s signature attacks are Megiddo Flame and Hell Howling. Megidramon is also one of the “Four Great Dragons” — a group of four Mega-level Dragon Digimon based on the Chinese myth of the Four Dragon Kings who rule over the four seas surrounding China.
Magnadramon
Magnadramon (middle) is a Holy Dragon type Digimon and an alternate mega form of Gatomon which first appeared in Digimon the Movie — specifically the last third, known as Digimon Adventure 02: Digimon Hurricane Touchdown!!/Transcendent Evolution!! The Golden Digimentals in Japan. Magnadramon’s signature attacks are Fire Tornado, Dragon Fire, and Hermit Fog.
Goldramon
Goldramon, is Holy Dragon type Digimon and another one of the “Four Great Dragons.” Goldramon has not appeared in any Digimon anime series as of yet, but appeared in Digimon World Dawn and Dusk as an obtainable Digimon. Goldramon’s signature attacks are Gold Flame and Good Summon.
Territory Battle Quests
In addition to new Digimon, there will also be Territory Battle Quests, in which players will have to battle other hacker groups in a dungeon and take over their territory by defeating them and suppressing their emblem, replacing it with your own.
Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Hacker’s Memory will be released in Japan sometime in late 2017 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, and is planned for release in Western territories sometime in 2018.
