This past Friday on March 11th 2016, the indie survival horror game 2Dark was announced for release later this year. A few days later at GDC, the developer Gloomy Wood showcased their game. The game was conceived by Frédérick Raynal — the creative driving force behind Alone in the Dark, which was released way back in 1992.

Frédérick Raynal explains that he wanted to do something different than most horror games, which often ask the player to risk their own life. But what’s scarier then risking your own life, you might ask? Risking the life of kids. And this game does exactly that. In 2Dark, you play an ex cop by the name of Mr. Smith who is not only on the search for his own kids, but who also sets out to rescue children from serial killers in the town of Gloomy Wood.

2Dark is  blend of different things: action, horror, stealth…but above all — rescuing children. The relentlessly dark and seedy gameplay will leave you with chills. Players can look forward to playing 2Dark on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Mac, and PC.
