We’re getting closer to One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4‘s March 27 release date on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Like Bandai Namco has done with My Hero One’s Justice 2, Koei Tecmo is continuing its trend of drip-feeding us character information in the lead-up to launch, this time with four new playable characters. The newest reveals include Whitebeard, Marco, Ace, and Capone Bege.
Whitebeard
First up is Edward Newgate, a.k.a. Whitebeard. This massive pirate was once considered the closest to One Piece, and he’s all about power. Accordingly, his moves are big and strong, and Whitebeard himself towers above his tiny, puny foes. He uses the Tremor-Tremor Fruit to destroy everything in his path, possibly even the world itself if he’s not careful.
Marco
Then we have former Whitebeard division commander Marco Phoenix. He uses the Mythical Zoan, which grants him beast powers and the ability to transform. As his name suggests, he can transform into a phoenix, attacking both ground and air enemies.
Ace
Another Whitebeard division commander, the second division’s Portgas Ace, makes an appearance as well. Ace is Luffy’s brother and (spoilers for the anime) shocked the fan community by dying in a later episode. Fortunately, that doesn’t stop him from using his Flame-Fruit powers for special charged attacks that devastate his enemies.
Capone Bege
Last of all is Capone Bege, revealed in this week’s issue of Jump Magazine (translated by Gematsu). The former mafia don and Straw Hat ally brings his signature move, Big Father, to the fight. The move turns him into a castle, complete with cannons and moving legs, and it lets Capone Bege completely obliterate all who dare stand in his way.
With all these characters and plenty more besides, you certainly won’t be starved for choice should you decide to take on One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4‘s special online missions. But a big roster isn’t unexpected for a game we think is a big, big step forward for the Pirate Warriors spinoff series.
