Unfortunately for fans of Ubisoft, the publishing company has yet to release its open Beta on The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot, one of the seven plus titles that they debuted at E3 this year. The game, which will be free to play, is still in its closed beta phase. Ubisoft has kept a tight rein on the beta; only releasing user codes to a select few by random or by contests.
The Story
The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot’s tale takes place in Opulencia, a town known for their love of monetary things. With a large focus on humor, the game works much like the real world; the player builds up their castle and then takes other people’s money.
The Gameplay
Basically this game is a more entertaining version of tower defense with a tiny drop of Minecraft added in for good measure. The player is given the task of building their own castle as complicated as they possibly can (you want to make it hard for other players to find their way through), then setting traps throughout the castle to catch their enemy. After the traps are set, the player can place monster “guards” throughout to fight off the would-be looters.
Who Said You Had To Be Nice?
After the player has successfully fortified their own castle it is time for them to steal… er… loot from their fellow players and friends. Here they will have to find their way through the castles that others have created, past the traps and monsters and into the treasure room. If this is successfully completed the player will be rewarded with twenty percent of their opponent’s gold. Afterward, the player can leave a nasty little note in the message box to let the owner of the castle know he dropped by.
Who Will You Be?
The player can choose from three classes: the archer (Blackeye Bowgart), the knight (Sir Painhammer), or the mage (The Earl of Evilosity). And similar to RPGs this title features a leveling up tree that has been compared to the one used in Diablo III.
For the Impatient
So for those who just can’t wait for the open beta to begin, Double O packs (founder’s packs) are available and range from $9.99 to $99.99. If you choose to play The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot, don’t forget to tell us what you think. Do you plan on playing it? Leave a comment and let us know.
