Uncharted 4 is a ways off. In the meantime, if you care more about puzzles than action, you might be interested in the upcoming Adam’s Venture Chronicles.
A Christian-themed episodic series from Playlogic and Vertigo Games, the franchise is headed to the PlayStation 3 (via the PSN) next month. It will be available in the US on February 4 and in Europe a day later; the title will retail for $12 and €12, respectively. If you’re a PlayStation Plus member, you’ll get an additional 20% off.
The three episodes are: The Lost Garden, Solomon’s Secret and Revelations. The game came out a while ago for PC but now, the developer has “polished and optimized these adventures for Sony’s console.” Set in the 1920s, protagonist Adam sets off to find ancient – and obviously religious – artifacts, all the while attempting to outsmart the nefarious Clarivoix Corporation. Evelyn will be his intrepid assistant, and she does look a tad like Elena from the Uncharted franchise.
All in all, Chronicles will offer over 10 hours of gameplay and more than 60 puzzles. Considering the theme, it’s unlikely that you’ll see a lot of violence and generally offensive or questionable content, which unfortunately makes any product more appealing. However, if you still miss the good ol’ days of Myst, when pure adventure experiences still existed, you might want to give this a shot. The production values won’t be high, but then again, when talking about puzzle-oriented titles, technical superiority isn’t essential.
Probably worth playing even if you’re not a Christian
It doesn’t seem like the game only caters to that particular religious group. Honestly, it just looks like a simple adventure that relies more on puzzles and straightforward platforming, as opposed to epic gunfights and power-hungry villains. Sometimes, it’s nice to take a step back and play a relaxing, completely inoffensive game that only taxes the mind. We get plenty of stimulation elsewhere, anyway.
