Hot on the heels of the Bunny Day content update, Nintendo announced a series of new events and characters making their way to your island in the latest Animal Crossing: New Horizons updates.
All these updates are completely free for the absorbing island life sim, and the first is available April 23.
First up is Leif, the adorable sloth. He’s bringing back his garden shop, and on top of having flowers for sale, he’ll let you buy flowering bushes like azaleas and holly as well.
Redd is back too, this time calling himself Jolly Redd and visiting your island’s secret beach on his Treasure Trawler. Like always, he’ll have a number of works of art you can buy — but they aren’t all legitimate.
Naturally, this means the museum is getting an update too with a new art gallery. All this is what dataminers had already found in New Horizons’ code, so we won’t be surprised if the museum eventually gets a cafe and shop as well eventually.
Nature Day is the next event, running from April 23 through May 5. You’ll get bonus Nook Miles and special tasks revolving around — surprise! — nature, planting flowers, and planting trees.
May Day celebrations run from May 1 through May 7. You’ll visit a special island and maybe partake in a scavenger hunt of some kind. The trailer shows Rover, the cat who used to greet you first thing in older Animal Crossing games, roving around on the island as well.
Then there’s International Museum Day from May 18 through May 31. You’ll get in-game rewards through taking part in the museum’s stamp rally. We aren’t quite sure how it works, but you’ll apparently be going to different stations throughout the various exhibits to collect stamps.
Finally is Wedding Season, which lasts all June. Harvey the groovy canine enlists you to help prepare a venue for Reese and Cyrus’… anniversary. It’s not technically a wedding, but you’ll still be treating it like one.
New Horizons managed to be an excellent experience even without these classic characters and new events and is already Nintendo’s third best-selling title ever according to the NPD Group’s Mat Piscatella.
We’re definitely looking forward to whatever else Nintendo adds in the future. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Animal Crossing: New Horizons news as it develops.
