Microsoft has announced that during the next Xbox 360 update it will make a change over from Microsoft Points to local currency. No more will you have to calculate the difference between Microsoft Points and what a download actually costs. Consumers will also be able to make purchases via credit cards after the new update.
Thinking of You
The company inferred that this change was a result of fan input and is geared at making things easier for the consumers since many found the Microsoft Point system to be cumbersome and confusing.
No More Point Cards!
Near the end of this year, Xbox will replace Point Cards with Xbox Gift Cards, though the existing Point Cards will still be redeemable. After the update, when Microsoft Points are redeemed they will be converted to your local currency and displayed at an equal or greater amount.
Microsoft vs. Sony
This seems to be a good call by Microsoft by making their system more user-friendly, but could it be a last stand effort to compete with Sony as the new consoles will be making their debut in a few months? What do you think?
