The newest and yet to be released installment of the Batman: Arkham franchise, Batman: Arkham Origins has some new DLC. Did I mention it wasn’t even out yet?
The DLC, called “Initiation” has gamers playing as Bruce Wayne as he sets out in Asia to learn how to become a ninja. Publisher Warner Brothers Interactive has announced that it will be part of the Origins season pass.
It marks the first time the franchise has a playable location outside of Gotham, and is set five years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum. No, it’s not the League of Assassins, at least not according to the developers. Mr. Wayne travels to a monastery in somewhere in Asia where he learns skills and moves exclusive to the Initiation DLC.
Also announced was the new “I Am the Night Mode”, which is only available after beating the game and New Game Plus modes. “I am the Night” means permadeath for the Bat, so play carefully. However, fortunately, saving is allowed.
The team at Warner Brothers Montreal suggests that the main story and side missions will take about 12 hours to complete, but getting 100% of items and collectibles will take “much, much longer.”
If the play time estimates are accurate, completing the bare minimum of story and side quests, New Game Plus, and “I Am the Night” mode means that there are at least 36 full hours of playtime in Arkham Origins.
Batman: Arkham Origins is due out October 25th for PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and the Wii U.
