There’s been a lot of hype surrounding Armikrog recently. It’s really no surprise: the game’s wildly successful Kickstarter ended two years ago this month. After raising nearly $1M through their crowdfunding efforts, Doug TenNapel and Pencil Test Studios now appear ready to ship.
Armikrog is a point-and-click adventure title and is considered a spiritual successor to TenNapel and Pencil Test’s 1996 cult-classic, The Neverhood. Hailing from the team behind the beloved Earthworm Jim franchise, Armikrog has attracted an all-star lineup of quirky voice talents, including Mike Nelson and Rob Paulsen. Last week, IndieCade announced the inclusion of Armikrog at their E3 2015 showcase, alongside titles like Sunset, Death’s Gambit, and Cloud Chasers.
Preorders for the claymation, point-and-click adventure game became available yesterday afternoon on Steam. Interested parties can reserve their copies of Armikrog at a 10% discount through July 30th. According to a backers-only update, the game will launch on August 18th. Despite earlier indications that the game would also head to Nintendo’s Wii U system, no recent announcements have been made at the time of this writing.
