The next title in Ubisoft’s insanely popular Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, released today on Wii U, PS3 and Xbox 360. The latest installment is set in the beginning of the 18th century, the “Golden Age of Piracy”, and takes players through an open-world adventure as Edward Kenway, the pirate captain of The Jackdaw.
With the release of the game also comes the release of promised day one DLC, including the popular Aveline missions available exclusively for the PlayStation 3, and eventually the PlayStation 4, versions of the game. As an added treat, it seems said Aveline Figurehead DLC will be free for the first two weeks starting today for PS Plus users in Europe.
The news comes from the official PlayStation Europe twitter account which tweeted the following:
Just been told that Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag Aveline Figurehead DLC will be free for PS Plus users from today for 2 weeks!

At this time it’s unclear as to whether players in the U.S. will also be able to get the DLC for free. It is also unclear if the free DLC will work on the PS4 version, or if it will only be for the PS3 edition. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be a launch title on PS4 and Xbox One and is set to release on November 19th for PC.
