Ubisoft recently released a new gameplay video showing off its upcoming Assassin’s Creed title, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. The video features exclusive commentary from the game director himself, Ashraf Ismail.

The video focuses on the naval aspect, which reportedly comprises 60% of the game. The game follows the journey of the notorious pirate-assassin, Edward Kenway. The video is full of new information about the upcoming game, namely our very own customizable ship, Jackdaw and fleet, 50 unique locations, rare and exotic wildlife, and treasure hunting.

Your Baby, Jackdaw!

First let’s talk about our very own ship, JackdawWe serve as the captain of this magnificient vessel and raise our very own fleet. This ship is completely customizable, ranging from weapons to defenses to utilities. You recruit crew members for your ship that help you become the most notorious pirate-assassin in the Caribbean.

Our ship is our major weapon against the British and the Spanish armadas. The player can have naval battles with the other ships and, after defeating them, can board the ship and go on to capture it. Every ship in this vast world is boardable, which increases Kenway’s navigation potential. Our ship also receives new weapons and upgrades to the already existing weapons. With the addition of sea storms, you never know how a battle will turn out.

Wildlife

The game is full of ambient life and predators that make the world around you feel much more real. From crabs to iguanas to whales, ACIV has it all. This leads to some fun activities like harpooning. This new addition is surely going to make the game more interesting.

New Locations

The video reveals two of the 50 unique locations available within the game – Misteriosa and Havana – and they both look fabulous. Even though Misteriosa is a tropical island, there is no shortage of tall locations to climb and synchronize with. In addition to synchronization, these high points now also function as fast travel points.

Well, it sure looks like ACIV: Black Flag is going to do what Ubisoft does best–that is, kill Templars and have fun with it, after a somewhat disappointing Assassin’s Creed III. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag releases on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, and PC this fall. Be sure to comment below your thoughts and stay tuned for more news on  ACIV: Black Flag.
