New AC game once a year
So Ubisoft has come out and officially stated that the Assassin’s Creed games are going to be getting a new release every year. I was a big fan of the series since the first, only recently being let down by the latest installment. So you think I’d be happy to hear that I’d have a new adventure in the robes of an assassin yearly.
Well, I’m not.
As I mentioned, Assassin’s Creed 3 left a bad taste in my mouth. I couldn’t name one thing I didn’t like about the game, there’s a few too many. The main character was barely interesting, the sense of progression from the previous titles was gone. All in all it just felt…lackluster. And this can easily be pinned on the game being rushed out too soon after the previous title, Assassin’s Creed Revelations.
Something a lot of devs and publishers need to learn, in my opinion, is that churning out sequel after sequel tends to lessen the effect of your game on the consumers. One could say it’s even happening with the Call of Duty franchise. I’m really looking forward to the new AC game, Black Flag, but now I’m worried that what could be a great title will end up feeling unfinished. I really hope Ubisoft decides to change their mind, and does their best to make sure each game has the quality and polish that the previous Assassin’s Creed titles held on to.
