Second Life builder Moeka Kohime has designed an Attack on Titan-inspired mod featuring the Corps uniform, 3-D Maneuver Gear, and playable training ground that resembles the anime’s walled District of Shiganshina setting.

To summarize the series, Attack on Titan is a 2013 anime based on the manga by Hajime Isayama. The story takes place in a dystopia where the remaining humans of the world live inside walled cities due to the threat of titans, or “giants” that devour humans for mere pleasure and are set on destroying humanity (and for no particular reason).

Second Life users can teleport to Kohime’s Wall Edelweiss training ground and actually take on “decoy” titans using the iconic 3-D Maneuver Gear to propel your way around the town and locate the enemies. Once found, users can equip their twin swords (which degrade over time with use and can be replaced)  to strike the titan’s only weak spot: the nape of the neck. Check out the demonstration from Kotaku:

While the game’s mechanics seem a little touchy at times, the fine details involved in creating the anime-inspired mod are outstanding and stay true to the actual series. Seriously, check out the texture just on the sword’s hilt! The details put into the 3-D Maneuver Gear alone shows the dedication that one fan has created for the enjoyment of all!

Some fun extra features include an option to do the Corps salute, uniform customization (which includes the ability to change the jacket emblem to represent either the anime’s Military Police, Scouting Legion, or Stationary Guard), and “the jump” (fans of the series will know what this means without explanation).

Considering there is no official Attack on Titan video game (aside from visual novel spin-offs), I think Kohime’s Second Life creation shows the great potential that an actual console game for the series may have. By combining the grappling ability from Batman: Arkham City, and the unique swing mechanics from the 2004 Spiderman 2 game, the anime’s 3-D Maneuver Gear could easily come to life and give players an intense, action-packed experience in defeating the terrifying colossal titans and saving humanity from destruction!

Here’s Kohime’s spin on the official Attack on Titan opening credits…enjoy!
