Recently Baldur’s Gate was re-released as the enhanced edition for mobile platforms along with Windows, OSX, and Linux. It featured some substantial upgrades to the game mechanics. For the last 7 years however, a small, but dedicated team have been working on a Baldur’s Gate mod for the wildly popular Neverwinter Nights 2. The mod’s title is Baldur’s Gate: Reloaded.
Although Neverwinter Nights 2’s graphics are not all that great by today’s standards, they are quite a step up from the graphics being used in Baldur’s Gate. The best part is that the mod is free, provided you have Neverwinter Nights 2 and the two expansion packs, Mask of the Betrayer and Storm of Zehir.
The project was led by Drew Rechner, who had a team of sometimes up to 5 people helping him out with the mod. Drew was lucky enough that the mod got him enough attention and he was able to get a job in the games industry. His teammates, Shallina, Greg Schneider, Andy Kasten and Sebastien Raymond helped him accomplish this awesome feat and are deserving of our praise. Here is a link to a page with the trailer on it, and links to the mod and Neverwinter Nights 2 if you need them: Baldur’s Gate Reloaded. Now if you’ll excuse me, my mod is done downloading.
