Following Electronic Arts’s first two “On the House” promotions through Origin, which featured Dead Space completely free for a month and then Plants vs. Zombies: Game of the Year Edition for the month after, EA announced that Battlefield 3 would also be completely free, but only for a week.
Battlefield 3, originally for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, is well-known for the popularity of its multiplayer and for being the lead competitor with Activision’s Call of Duty series, though both franchises are suffering as of late.
Electronic Arts may still be trying to mend its relationship with gamers after previously loved titles became freemium or just streamlined into oblivion, but with releases like Star Wars: Battlefront, Mirror’s Edge 2, and Dragon Age: Inquisition on the horizon, there’s a chance that EA may actually be starting to turn things around.
Despite Battlefield 3‘s price drop to zero, Plants vs. Zombies: Game of the Year Edition remains free until June 16th. Be sure to grab both so you can shoot both zombies, and random players online. Players can find both games here.
